The Complete Morocco — Eight Days, Seven Destinations

This is Morocco in its entirety — a single extraordinary journey that connects the country’s most iconic destinations into one seamless private expedition. From the cosmopolitan Atlantic coast of Casablanca to the electric blue labyrinth of Chefchaouen, from the medieval spiritual capital of Fes to the golden silence of the Sahara Desert, from the cinematic kasbahs of Ouarzazate to the sensory brilliance of Marrakech — this 8-day grand tour is the definitive way to experience the Kingdom of Morocco.

Every day brings a completely different Morocco. Ancient cities where scholars debated philosophy a thousand years ago. Mountain villages where Berber families have tended the same terraced fields for centuries. A desert so vast and silent that the absence of sound becomes a sound of its own. Morocco is not one place — it is many worlds layered on top of each other, and this tour takes you through all of them.

Everything is handled by our local expert team — private A/C vehicle, professional driver-guide, handpicked accommodations from boutique riads to a luxury Sahara camp, daily breakfast, and a fully flexible itinerary that moves at your pace.

Highlights of the 8-Day Morocco Grand Tour

Eight days. Seven cities. One complete Morocco.

Hassan II Mosque — Casablanca

One of the world’s largest mosques built dramatically over the Atlantic Ocean — a breathtaking introduction to Moroccan Islamic architecture and master craftsmanship.

Kasbah of the Udayas — Rabat

The 12th-century blue-and-white fortress overlooking the Bou Regreg River — a UNESCO World Heritage city of elegant Atlantic grandeur.

Chefchaouen — The Blue Pearl

Morocco’s most photogenic city — cobalt-washed alleyways, Andalusian architecture, and a mountain serenity unlike anywhere else in the country.

Al Quaraouiyine — Fes

The world’s oldest continuously operating university, founded 859 AD — the intellectual heart of Islamic civilization in the medieval city of Fes el Bali.

Chouara Tanneries — Fes

Witness the ancient leather dyeing craft from a rooftop terrace — stone vats of vivid color unchanged since the 11th century.

Camel Trek — Erg Chebbi

Ride a camel into the golden dunes of the Sahara as the sun sets over Erg Chebbi — then spend the night under a sky of stars at a luxury desert camp with live Berber music.

Todra Gorge

Walk the base of 300-meter limestone canyon walls carved by the Todra River — one of Morocco’s most dramatic natural landscapes.

Ait Ben Haddou — UNESCO Kasbah

The iconic fortified ksar that served as a filming location for Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and dozens of Hollywood productions — a living museum of earthen Moroccan architecture.

Jemaa el-Fnaa — Marrakech

The legendary central square of Marrakech — storytellers, musicians, snake charmers, and the best street food in North Africa, all coming alive at dusk.

8-Day Itinerary — Day by Day

A complete private journey through the heart and soul of Morocco

Your authentic Moroccan expedition begins with a warm welcome from your professional private driver who meets you at Mohammed V International Airport or your hotel in Casablanca for a seamless private transfer — the first of many moments where the details have already been handled for you.

Hassan II Mosque — Casablanca

Your first stop is the magnificent Hassan II Mosque — one of the largest mosques in the world, built with astonishing craftsmanship on a platform extending over the Atlantic Ocean. The scale is humbling: 210-meter minaret, hand-carved plaster, zellij tilework covering acres of floor, and a retractable roof that opens to the sky.

Rabat — Hassan Tower and Kasbah of the Udayas

From the coast you travel to Rabat, Morocco’s elegant capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the unfinished 12th-century Hassan Tower, visit the adjacent Mausoleum of Mohammed V. Then wander the blue-and-white lanes of the Kasbah of the Udayas — one of the most beautiful and peaceful corners in all of Morocco.

Evening Arrival in Chefchaouen

Heading north through the rising peaks of the Rif Mountains, the road climbs into a landscape of cedar forest and Berber villages before delivering you to the famous Blue Pearl — Chefchaouen. Check in to your traditional boutique riad and let the mountain calm settle over you.

Night 1: Traditional boutique riad in Chefchaouen (breakfast included)
Hassan II Mosque Casablanca Ocean delve morocco tours
Casablanca → Rabat → Chefchaouen  |  Full driving day with stops

The morning belongs entirely to Chefchaouen — and it should. This is a city that reveals itself slowly, through aimless wandering rather than scheduled sightseeing.

Free Morning in the Blue Medina

Wander through the famous cobalt-blue cobblestone alleyways of the ancient medina. Discover hidden courtyards, Andalusian fountains, and the Ras el Maa waterfall at the edge of the old city where local women still wash laundry in the mountain stream.

Optional Guided Walking Tour — Chefchaouen

For those wanting to go deeper into the history, we offer an optional morning guided walking tour led by a local expert — sharing stories of its Jewish and Moorish heritage, visiting the historic Kasbah museum, and ascending to the Spanish Mosque above the city for panoramic views.

Scenic Drive to Fes

Departing the Rif Mountains, the route south to Fes passes through a breathtaking patchwork of traditional Berber villages and rolling countryside — fertile valleys, olive groves, and the occasional glimpse of a distant minaret.

Arrival at the Gates of Fes

You arrive in the late afternoon at the gates of Fes el Bali — the world’s largest car-free urban space and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Check into your hand-picked luxury riad in the heart of the medina.

Night 2: Luxury or standard riad in Fes medina (breakfast included)
Chefchaouen Blue Alleyways Morning Light
Chefchaouen → Fes  |  Approx. 3.5 hours with stops

Dedicate an entire day to the extraordinary depths of Fes el Bali — the world’s oldest living medieval city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of more than 9,000 alleyways, and a place where the 21st century has barely left a fingerprint.

Al Quaraouiyine University

Your exploration begins at the Al Quaraouiyine — founded in 859 AD and recognized by UNESCO and the Guinness World Records as the oldest continuously operating degree-granting institution on Earth.

Chouara Tanneries

From a rooftop terrace above the tannery quarter, you look down on hundreds of circular stone vats filled with vivid dyes — saffron yellow, poppy red, indigo blue — in which craftsmen stand waist-deep treating leather using methods unchanged since the 11th century.

Artisan Quarters — Weavers, Potters and Brass Smiths

The medina of Fes is organized by craft — each quarter dedicated to a different trade. You will visit master weavers, potters shaping the famous cobalt-blue ceramics of Fes, and brass smiths hammering elaborate geometric patterns into lanterns.

Royal Palace — The Seven Golden Doors

Your guide leads you to the Dar al-Makhzen — the Royal Palace of Fes. Its monumental entrance — seven massive doors covered in intricate brass work against a facade of carved plaster and zellij mosaic — is one of the most photographed architectural moments in Morocco.

Night 3: Luxury or standard riad in Fes medina (breakfast included)
Chouara Tanneries Fes Rooftop
Full Day in Fes el Bali  |  Guided walking tour

This is one of the great driving days of any Morocco itinerary — a journey that takes you from the ancient stones of the most medieval city in North Africa to the edge of the largest hot desert on Earth.

Ifrane — The Switzerland of Morocco

Departing Fes early, you climb into the Middle Atlas Mountains toward Ifrane — a town so unlike anything else in Morocco that first-time visitors assume they have crossed a border. Alpine chalets, manicured European-style parks, clean mountain air.

Azrou Cedar Forest — Barbary Macaques

Continuing through the ancient cedar forests surrounding Azrou, your driver will stop where the Barbary macaques — Morocco’s only wild primate — descend to the roadside. These large, intelligent animals are completely habituated to vehicles.

Ziz Valley — Gateway to the Sahara

After a scenic lunch in Midelt, the landscape begins its dramatic transformation. The road descends through deep canyon passes into the Ziz Valley — a ribbon of green palm groves threading between terracotta canyon walls.

Erg Chebbi Camel Trek and Sunset

You arrive in Merzouga in the late afternoon. From here, the tour transitions from vehicle to camel for a trek across the undulating golden dunes of Erg Chebbi toward the luxury desert camp. You pause on a high dune to watch the sun set over the Sahara.

Night 4: Luxury Sahara desert camp — private tent with en-suite bathroom. Traditional Berber dinner under the stars with live music around the campfire.
Fes → Ifrane → Azrou → Merzouga  |  Approx. 8 hours with stops

The day begins before sunrise — and it must. Waking in a luxury desert tent to walk barefoot up a dune in the pre-dawn dark and watch the first light of day paint the Sahara is one of those experiences that travelers describe for the rest of their lives.

Sahara Sunrise

Rise before dawn and climb to the nearest high dune to watch the sunrise over Erg Chebbi — the sky transitioning through a palette of deep indigo, rose pink, gold, and finally the brilliant blue of the Saharan morning.

Rissani — Ancient Desert Market

After breakfast, the journey continues to the historic desert town of Rissani — the ancestral home of Morocco’s ruling Alaouite dynasty. The weekly souk is a vivid immersion in Saharan trade culture: livestock auctions, traditional spice merchants, weavers of desert rugs.

Todra Gorge

Leaving the desert plains, the road enters the narrow dramatic canyon of the Todra Gorge near Tinghir — where 300-meter vertical limestone cliffs rise on both sides of a crystal-clear river. The canyon is barely 10 meters wide at its narrowest point.

Arrival in Ouarzazate

The day concludes in Ouarzazate — the Hollywood of Africa — a city that has served as the backdrop for Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and dozens of other major productions.

Night 5: Boutique hotel in Ouarzazate (breakfast included)
Todra Gorge 300m Canyon Walls River
Merzouga → Rissani → Todra Gorge → Ouarzazate  |  Approx. 6 hours with stops

The penultimate day delivers three of Morocco’s most visually spectacular experiences — from the desert gateway city to a UNESCO living museum kasbah, over the highest mountain pass in the High Atlas, and down into the legendary Red City.

Ait Ben Haddou — UNESCO World Heritage Kasbah

Just 30 kilometers from Ouarzazate, the ancient fortified ksar of Ait Ben Haddou rises from the desert floor — a tiered city of mud-brick towers and ramparts continuously inhabited for over 1,000 years. Gladiator, Game of Thrones, The Mummy, and dozens more were shot against its walls. Wander through the living village inside the walls and climb to the ancient granary at the summit.

Tizi n’Tichka Pass — 2,260 Meters

From Ait Ben Haddou the road begins its ascent of the High Atlas via the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka pass — at 2,260 meters the highest mountain road in North Africa. The route winds through dramatic hairpin bends, past Berber villages clinging to steep slopes.

Arrival in Marrakech

The descent from the High Atlas brings one of Morocco’s most cinematic arrivals — the moment when the mountain landscape gives way to the red earth plains of the Haouz and the first minarets of Marrakech appear on the horizon.

Night 6: Riad in Marrakech medina (breakfast included)
Ouarzazate → Ait Ben Haddou → Tizi n’Tichka → Marrakech  |  Approx. 4.5 hours

Your final full day is spent uncovering the extraordinary layers of Marrakech with a professional local guide — a city that has been the commercial and cultural capital of southern Morocco for nearly a thousand years.

Jemaa el-Fnaa and Koutoubia Mosque

Begin at the Koutoubia Mosque — the 12th-century masterpiece whose 70-meter minaret has served as the architectural template for Islamic minarets across the western world. Then step into Jemaa el-Fnaa — a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage space where snake charmers, storytellers, fortune tellers, and acrobats perform from morning until midnight.

Bahia Palace

Enter the intricate Moorish world of the Bahia Palace — a 19th-century masterpiece of 160 rooms. Hand-carved stucco ceilings, painted cedarwood, zellij mosaic courtyards, and a garden of orange trees and jasmine.

Majorelle Garden

The former private garden of French artist Jacques Majorelle — and later of Yves Saint Laurent — is one of the most beautiful small gardens in the world. Cobalt-blue Art Deco pavilions rising from a botanical collection of cacti, bamboo, and tropical palms.

The Souks of Marrakech

No visit to Marrakech is complete without navigating the covered souks — lantern makers, carpet weavers, leather goods, spice merchants, silver jewellers, and ceramics painters. Your guide will navigate, translate, and advise.

Night 7: Riad in Marrakech medina (breakfast included)
Jemaa el-Fnaa Marrakech Square Dusk
Full Day in Marrakech  |  Guided city tour

The final morning of your 8-day Morocco grand tour arrives with the particular bittersweet quality that only the best journeys produce — the awareness that something extraordinary is ending, accompanied by the equally powerful awareness of how much has been seen, felt, and understood.

Final Marrakech Morning

Depending on your flight time, you may have a final morning in Marrakech — a last walk through the medina before the crowds arrive, a final mint tea on a rooftop terrace, or simply the chance to sit in the riad courtyard and let the sound of the call to prayer and the morning birds mark your last hour in the city.

Private Transfer to Airport

Your professional driver will ensure a smooth and comfortable conclusion to your trip with a private transfer directly to Marrakech Menara Airport. If your return flight departs from Casablanca, we will arrange the transfer accordingly — approximately 2.5 hours by road.

Please share your flight departure time and airport preference (Marrakech or Casablanca) when booking. We will coordinate your Day 8 transfer timing perfectly to ensure you arrive at the airport with comfortable time to spare.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The tour can be run in either direction — starting in Marrakech and ending in Casablanca, or starting in Casablanca and ending in Marrakech. If you fly into Marrakech and out of Casablanca (or vice versa), we simply adapt the itinerary accordingly. Just mention your flight details when you contact us and we will design the optimal routing.

No. This tour is offered exclusively as a private experience — your own vehicle, your own guide, and your own schedule throughout all 8 days. You will never share your transport or guide with strangers. This ensures genuine flexibility, a truly personalized pace, and the freedom to spend more time at the places that move you most.

Absolutely. The most common extension is an extra night at Erg Chebbi — giving you two full dawns and sunsets in the Sahara, time for additional activities like quad biking and sandboarding, and a deeper immersion in the desert atmosphere. We can also extend the Fes or Marrakech stays. Contact us with your interests and we will design the extended itinerary.

March to May and September to November are the ideal months — pleasant temperatures throughout, manageable desert heat, and beautiful light for photography. July and August are the hottest months, particularly in the desert where temperatures exceed 40°C during the day. December to February can be cold in the mountains but the landscapes are beautiful and crowds are minimal.

Morocco’s entrance fees are generally very reasonable by international standards. Major sites include: Ait Ben Haddou (approx. 2 EUR), Bahia Palace (approx. 2 EUR), Majorelle Garden (approx. 10 EUR), Fes tannery rooftop (approx. 1 EUR), Bou Inania Madrasa (approx. 3 EUR). Your guide will advise on current fees at each site. We can include all entrance fees in your total quote if you prefer a fully all-inclusive arrangement.

The majority of this tour is conducted from a comfortable private vehicle. Walking is involved at each destination — the Fes medina guided tour involves 3–4 hours on foot over uneven cobblestones, the Ait Ben Haddou visit involves some climbing on uneven terrain, and the camel trek is approximately 45–60 minutes each way. All of these can be modified or reduced for travelers with mobility considerations.

Your driver-guide is first-aid trained and carries a basic medical kit. Morocco has adequate medical facilities in all major cities — Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, and Marrakech all have modern hospitals. We recommend comprehensive travel insurance that includes medical evacuation coverage. In the event of illness, we will immediately assist with finding appropriate care and adjusting the itinerary as needed.

Yes. We have guides with Portuguese language capability available on request. Please mention in your booking that you prefer Portuguese-speaking support and we will do our best to arrange it. Our client relations team also communicates in Portuguese via WhatsApp throughout the planning process.
